No Rock Climbing in Amarillo?

I moved back home this weekend while Andrew was in Austin for the Verge Conference. Due to the two day snowpocalypse (and some prior damage) our garage door broke, and I was not in the mood to manually open it every time I left or returned home. So I packed my stuff and grabbed my dogs and drove the 10 miles to Canyon. Incidentally, my parents were also in Austin visiting my sister Allie, so I got some one-on-one time with my brother Dusty - which is a rarity these days.

We used to hang out all the time, being that we're a mere 13 months apart. But theses days he's spends most of his time working and getting his masters in English. He's also really getting into rock climbing. We spent Saturday running around town looking for outdoor climbing gear, which apparently is not sold ANYWHERE in Amarillo - not even A.R.C.H. We had a blast.

Since last Friday was my Papa's 73rd birthday, Dusty and I got dinner from Steak Express (surprisingly delicious) and some cheesecake to take to my Nana and Papa's house. I love being at their house, because
1. Nana and Papa are two of my favorite people in the world

2. It always smells like delicious, southern home-cooking

3. We sit around and look at old Life magazines or watch old movies

4. Their house is covered in pictures of our family - like, covered.
These are a few of my favorites

I don't know what I would do without them - Nana and Papa, Dusty, Mom & Dad, Allie and Andrew. Even Goober, Moss, Ozzie and Zoey. Spending time with family makes my heart so happy.

Dusty and I talked about how we don't want to take that time for granted. We're only a few minutes away from each other at any time. I want to spend as much time with the people I love as I can.

So I'm going to do that. You should, too.

Weekend Update

Remember that work trip I talked about? Well, it was okay. But my view was really nice. I got to hang out with three really cool 70 year olds for two days and eat a $17 in-room breakfast.

The conference was a great reminder of how naive I am. Apparently it's completely acceptable to be married and hit on every man or woman that walks by. Gross. Needless to say, I was really excited to get home and see Andrew. And watch the Oscars. And get snowed-in for two days.

Please note that this photo was taken 2 days after it snowed.

We watched a zillion hours of Netflix and caught up on the Bachelor. Poor adopted AshLee...always crying. I had her picked for the win until the last episode, when wedding dress Lindsey took the lead. I'm blown away that Catherine is still around. I mean, I personally think she's cool. She just doesn't seem like Sean's "type".

Of course, One-F Jef didn't seem like Emily's type and they stood the test of time...

Okay, that was a bad example.

Fact: Only TWO of the 24 Bachelor/Bachelorette couples have stayed together.

Dear Chris Harrison,
 I don't think we're asking too much.
Sincerely,
The People of America

Okay, back to my two snow days. Count em - TWO. Never in all my time of living in the Texas panhandle have I experience two snow days.
We have a few cabin fever break downs, but nothing an unwatched netflix movie couldn't cure.
I also took some time to be crafty. I've been wanting to add some pizazz to our second bathroom.
So I worked on some art for the poorly textured walls. And wine.

We also got some new freelance work on the books. A few shower/wedding invites and another wedding video shoot this summer. YEAH! (I think...It's great until my full-time job gets in the way)

I created this lovely watercolor look with highlighters stolen from the receptionists desk at work.

Also, I was watching Pretty in Pink today (one of my favorite movies). Anyway, my heart melts every time I watch this scene. HOW CAN MOLLY RINGWALD JUST SIT THERE WITH THAT LOOK ON HER FACE???

 Happy Friday

Jeans Friday

Welcome. Welcome to Region 16.

Normally, we dress "business professional" at service center. But not today - for today is in-home day, which means JEANS!!

Even though I woke up at 5:00 a.m. to a balmy 28 degrees and a 45 minute spin class,
it's been a really good day.

I mean, spin kicked my butt today. Seriously, I can't feel my butt. But I went for an early morning work break to get my soy cafe au lait. Then Andrew picked me up and we got some Thai Taste for lunch with Calli for her birthday.
And I've spent most of the afternoon watching old episodes of 30 Rock.

Oh, and did I mention that I got new glasses and nail polish?

(I obvs forgot my wedding ring - again, 5 a.m.)

ALSO, I get off work at 4 today.

You're probably saying, "It's just one hour."
But I'm saying, "That's what I thought until I got off work at 4 on Fridays and realized that it's awesome."

It was about time for a great day. And the best part is - we don't have anything planned for this weekend.

Well, sorry this blog has no purpose except to brag about my good day, but you better believe me and my jeans are outta here at 4...
